Collect at the gym

How it works

One week, start to finish.

PapasKitchen runs on a weekly rhythm. Knowing exactly what happens and when is what keeps the food fresh and the price honest.

Order by Thursday

Cutoff each Thursday, 8pm

Collect at the gym

Iron Works Gym, reception, 4:00pm – 6:00pm

Order the weeks you want, skip the ones you don't

  1. 1

    Monday

    The menu goes up

Eight dishes for the coming Sunday — Indian, Greek and wherever else — posted here and in the WhatsApp group. Macros and allergens are on every one before you order, not after.

  2. 2

    Thursday, 8pm

    Orders close

A hard cutoff, so the shopping list is exact. Nothing gets over-ordered and thrown away, which is a big part of why the price works.

  3. 3

    Friday morning

    Shopping

Meat from the butcher, veg from the market, spices from the Asian grocer. Bought for the orders that exist, not for a freezer full of guesswork.

  4. 4

    Friday evening

    Prep

Marinades on overnight, pastes pounded fresh, the lamb seasoned and left. Most of what makes Saturday work happens the day before.

  5. 5

    Saturday

    Cook day

Everything is cooked, weighed into containers, labelled with the dish, the date and the macros, then blast-chilled and kept at fridge temperature overnight.

  6. 6

    Sunday, 4–6pm

    Collection at the gym

Come to reception, give your name or order reference, and take your week away. Two minutes, no queue.

The practical bits

How long they keep

Four days in the fridge from collection. Freeze on collection day and they'll hold for around two months — the curries in particular are better for it.

Reheating

Microwave for three to four minutes from chilled, stirring halfway, or tip into a pan with a splash of water. Lids are microwave-safe; take the corner off first.

Portions and macros

Every figure on the menu is calculated from the recipe and the actual cooked weight of the portion — typically 420–500g. If you want portions scaled up or down, ask.

Allergens

Listed on every dish and printed on every label. The kitchen handles nuts, dairy, gluten, fish and sesame, so it isn't suitable for severe allergies.

Paying

Card online when you order. Nothing recurring, nothing stored, no minimum commitment beyond the three-meal minimum order.

Changing an order

Up to the Thursday cutoff, message the WhatsApp group and it'll get sorted. After that the shopping is done, so it rolls to the next week instead.

Why there's no delivery

Collection at the gym keeps the cold chain short, the packaging light and the price at what it is. Papa would rather do one thing properly than post food around the country badly. If enough people in the group want a delivery run, that's the next thing to look at.
